LANZAROTE

Lanzarote is one of the less touristic islands of the Canarian archipel. The artist Cesar Manrique has definitely left his marks on the way the islands should attract tourists. For instance, he got the government to ban hotels higher than a Canarian palmtree: no beaches with tenstore-high hotels on Lanzarote. Furthermore, he designed quite a lot of attractions, when you visit Lanzarote you almost can't miss them. Yet the largest attraction of Lanzarote is Lanzarote itself. Lanzarote is highly volcanic. Large parts of the island are covered with lava, creating landscapes you would expect on the moon or on some distant planet out of a science fiction movie.
