Gorinchem is a small town at the crossroads of two rivers and two channels: the rivers Merwede and Linge, and the channels Steenenhoek and Merwedekanaal.

Nearby flows the Afgedamde Maas in the Merwede. At that point is the castle Loevenstein and the fortified town Woudrichem. A footferry brings you here easily.

The Lingeharbour has a big influence at the character of Gorinchem (or Gorkum, as the people here say).

In the summertime, it is nice to have a look at the boats and people around the harbour. From the pubs and restaurant along (and above) the water, you have a great view.

In 1998, Gorinchem is cultural city of the year. It is nice to see a lot more art in this place, that already had an open eye for it.
