Drottningholm

At the end of the 17th century, it was a rage to build palaces which looked all alike. The most famous example is Versailles in France, but we have also visited a look-alike in Spain called the Palacio Real of La Granja de San Ildefonso. Close to Stockholm is the Swedish version, called Drottningholm.

The gardens of Drottningholm are not as baroque as Versailles. According to the postcards, the palaces itself show the same difference. As we are not fond of the glitter of Versailles, we dared to enter Drottningholm. And we really liked Drottningholm. The white library was the best part of it, we believe. Of course, the painting of one member of our royal family was also great.
